I have just set up my Google Plus profile today! What an experience and what a feeling!
I’ve been using Google’s Gmail for long and only in the recent years to notice that many new “add on” services were coming out of Google. And all of a sudden I just came to notice that I was sooo outdated from those social media stuffs. I have had a Twitter account and a Facebook account for quite some years already but have only been rarely posting to them. After having read few books on social media recently, and especially having made up my mind about doing something with my International Mahjong® stuffs, I now decided that I should be more participating in the online community. I have so far set up two blogs and my profile at Google+. To many of you this might just be a piece of sesame; but it’s already a lot to me. However, it’s really fun!
Fortunately, things are much easier to learn and do than I could imagine! Thanks to the advanced technology readily available to me; and to ample of useful information that is easily accessible online. To share with you my “learning experience” I would like to quote the books and sites that I have read and visited – and my BIG THANKS to the authors of the books and the sites as well! (Items are listed in the order that I first met.)
- Site: Hummingbird604.com
- Site: Miss604.com
- Book: Blogging to Drive Business (by Eric Butow & Rebecca Bollwitt)
- Book: The New Rules of Marketing & PR (by David Meerman Scott)
- Book: Teach Yourself Visually WordPress (by Janet Majure)
- Book: Getting Started with WordPress (by Todd Kelsey)
Just for your info the following are links to my online profile and two blogs that I just created – Note that I have made telling the web addresses of my blogs and online profile to others much easier by setting up the corresponding sub-folders on my existing websites. That is, I use an index file in the sub-folder “/b/” to direct people to the blog homepage and an index file in the sub-folder “/c/” to the online profile homepage:
Link to my iMahjong blog: imahjong.com/b
Link to my Invite The World blog: cofatsui.com/b
Link to my Google+ profile: cofatsui.com/c
Like I’ve said in the title of this post: I still have a lot to learn. So feel free to share your thoughts. Cheers!
